Projects 2002/2002 on Mesoscopic Devices

Oslo group: Yuri Galperin, Dragos-Viktor Angel, Joakim Bergli

The group is involved in several projects in Mesoscopic Physics. The main research topics are:

  • Two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG)
AC hopping conductance under integer quantum Hall effect (IQHE)
Acoustic response of composite fermions under fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE)
Dephasing of weak localization due to dynamic defects

  • Quantum wires and point contacts
Acoustoelectric effect in ballistic channels: average current and noise
    Non-equilibrium phenomena in diffusive wires

  • Nano-electromechanical systems
Coherent shuttling of Cooper pairs due to a movable superconducting grain
    DC Josephson effect
Creation of phase coherence between superconducting leads
Decoherence due to interaction with environment

  • Mesoscopic detectors and related problems
    Mesoscopic photon detectors
    NIS thermometers
    NIS coolers

  • Miscellaneous
Kondo Temperature for the Two-Channel Kondo Models of Tunneling Centers
Mesoscopic effects in vortex media of type II superconductors
    Systems with fractional statistics
