A crucial aspect of modern linkage analysis is an efficient way of
describing inheritance in families. The most widely used software for
non-parametric linkage analysis uses the concept of inheritance vectors to
facilitate probability calculations. This talk introduces the concept of
inheritance vectors and recent developments in their application in
linkage analysis.
